Suzhou has already been developed to the biggest manufacturing & export base of IT industry, it is becoming the newest global releasing & exchanging IT center of R&D and production. The IT
industry features “Three-High”: “High technology”, “High gathering” and “High increasing”. In
recent years in Suzhou, the investment amount of IT industry and electronic information industry
has been more than 10 billion US dollars, with an average rate of 40% increasing in high-speed
growth every year.
By the end of 2006, Suzhou has realized a total industrial output value of 400.974 billion yuan. In
2007, the industrial output value reached 504.74 billion yuan, 26% increase compared with the
year before, accounted for 26% of the total industrial output value.
In the year 2010, the IT production made by China is expected to account for 25% growth of the
global IT output, and the IT production made in Suzhou will take 25% share of the whole country
as a target.
After several years’ development, Suzhou Wuzhong Economic Development Zone (SWEDZ) has
already formed three main industries, which are electronic information, precision machinery, and
medicine chemical industry. The electronic information industry, specially, has become the
dominant industry of SWEDZ. In 2007, the output value of electronic information industry
accounted for 46% of the total industrial output value of SWEDZ, and its revenue reached 16.5
billion yuan, which increased 31% compared to the year before. In October 2007, the electronic
information industry in SWEDZ is approved as the provincial information industry base by the
Jiangsu Information Industry Department. At present, there are great many large IT enterprises in
the zone, such as GlobalFlex Co. Ltd, YaHsin Industrial Co. Ltd, Multi-Fineline Electronix Inc.
